In South Africa a child goes missing every six (6) hours, which totals more than 1,400 per annum. More than 13% of all children going missing are never found.
Reported crime against children under the age of 18 years counted to a total of 50,688 for the period 2011/2012. Effectively this equals to 139 per day or 6 per hour.
Human trafficking is a reality.
According to statistics 27 million children has been trafficked worldwide at a rate of 1.7 million per year.
Children are trafficked for prostitution, forced labour, slavery and child marriage.
